Andrew Bernhardt asked:
The vehicles we drive are a reflection of our own identities. That’s why hunting for a new set of wheels is not simply a matter of choosing any vehicle that’s on sale down at the lot. On the contrary, we all have our own complex list of criteria that guides us through the decision making process. For some, nothing is more important than engine size and transmission type. For others, it’s all about trunk space.
However, the one unifying criterion that is at the top of everyone’s list is style. There is something about the unique design of certain cars, trucks and SUVs that attracts us, often in very primal, inexplicable ways. Like moths to the warming glow of a light bulb, we are drawn in by the curves, lines and contours of certain vehicles. And, once they catch our eye, we are driven to acquire them, or at least another vehicle that looks quite similar.
Even after our thirst for the right automobile is quenched, we still want to project our own unique personality into its design. While there are superficial ways of doing this (e.g. a pair of fuzzy-dice dangling from the rear view mirror, or a personalized license plate frame that often reads, “I’d rather be golfing”), there are more substantial ways of modifying the attitude of your vehicle.
A simple yet significant way of customizing your vehicle’s presence is by upgrading the stock grille to a more powerful, more expressive billet grille.
Before you begin sifting through an extensive stock of premium billet grilles, take a moment to learn a little about the basics of their construction, installation and other important characteristics. Use this resource as a guide for picking your perfect billet grille.
Fundamentals of Billet Grille Style
Billet grilles like those from Carriage Works and Trenz are crafted only from materials that are proven to be rugged, dependable and long-lasting.
Aluminum Billet Grilles
The material most widely used in the billet grille industry is aluminum, for good reasons, too. Aluminum is known for its strength, versatility, low-density, durability and resistance to corrosion. Because of its malleability, aluminum can easily be rolled, stamped, drawn, spun, hammered or forged into almost any shape, making it the ideal metal for the automotive and aerospace industries. While there are 7 different types of aluminum alloy, billet grille manufacturers use either the 5xxx or 6xxx series. The difference between these two types is that they are wrought from different alloy components. 5xxx series aluminum uses magnesium as its principle alloy, which makes it mild to moderately strong, and resistant to corrosion. In the 6xxx series, a mixture of magnesium and silicon are used, producing a higher-strength aluminum with excellent corrosion resistance.
Stainless Steel Billet Grilles
Known the world over for its strength and corrosion resistance, stainless steel is a popular metal used for crafting billet grilles. The reason that it resists rust so successfully is that it has a high chromium content. In fact, for steel to be considered stainless, it needs to have at least a 10.5% chromium content. Plus, stainless steel is incredibly tough, resilient and easily fashioned into a multitude of forms and shapes.
Just like the aluminum, there are two types of stainless steel used in billet grilles. The more economical of the two, 409 series stainless steel, is commonly used for many different automotive accessories because of its sturdiness. The other type of stainless steel, 304, is another popular automotive metal. It has a higher chromium content for the ultimate in corrosion resistance.
ABS Plastic Billet Grilles
The most cost effective billet grille material available is the ABS Plastic. Widely used across the entire automobile accessories spectrum, ABS Plastic is a lightweight, rigid and durable thermoplastic material. While it is not as strong as stainless steel or aluminum, ABS Plastic still makes an excellent medium for building billet grilles because the plastic is impervious to rust and quite durable. For added customization, it can usually be painted to match or accent your stock paint.
To Billet or Not to Billet
After deciding what materials you would like you grille to be made out of, billet grilles can be divided into two camps based on their installation type: bolt over billet grilles and replacement billet grilles. Their installation is quick and easy. In fact my 8 year old son installed our bolt over grille on our ‘02 Ford F150 in nearly 5 minutes!

7 Grilling Tips Beyond The Summer Months
Filed Under grills | Leave a Comment
John Thompson asked:
Grilling is fun to do all summer long. You love to get out there and soak in the sun while making some great tasting food at the same time. But, for many, as soon as the leaves begin to fall, it’s time to pack up the grill until next year. Why do this when this tool can be used all year round to produce excellent, and healthy foods?
Here are 7 things you need to know about grilling.
It happens all year round. Face it; there is no real reason to put the grill away. Do you have a covered patio or a spot in the garage to set it up? If so, then do so. Keep the tank full and grill away. The grill will provide you with heat if it is really cold outside.
The flavor can be even better. within the duration of the winter season, many people eat more hearty foods. And, because of this, it can often be duller tasting foods. If you love the taste of flamed cooked foods, youll love them even more during the winter cycles.
CautionCaution. You should keep the lid of the grill blocking any fierce wind that is coming in. And, you should always keep the top of the grilled closed to insure a well-cleaned location to cook. Just as you would throughout the summer season, make sure to keep the grill clean and well stocked to insure that when you want to grill it’s available to you.
Winter Veggies. Winter time vegetables such as potatoes, carrots, squashes and others are fantastic on the grill. Take a few minutes to clean and prep them, cover with olive oil or a light spray of butter and grill away. This is a great way to affordably eat in season veggies with the taste of the grill on them.
Potatoes on the grill. One of the most eaten foods throughout cold winter time months are potatoes. If you love them, make them and cook them on your grill. Cut up and place inside of a tin foil wrapper, season and grill as much as you want.
Smoke Away. Smoking ribs or steaks on the grill within the duration of winter is an excellent way to enhance their flavor. Just keep the lid downward and regulate the temperature. There is no reason not to love it. In fact, when Super Bowl Sunday roles around, your place will be the place to be to enjoy the best foods.
Fruits And Dessert. Fruits on the grill make a top notch dessert too. What a better way to get in some healthy foods that are full of flavor? Just slice, coat with a little butter and grill away.
Grilling throughout the winter or fall cycles does mean that you should take extra precautions. Youll want to insure that everything remains clean and if possible store the grill in the garage or other indoor location too keep from debris blowing in.
And, when you do cook out there, be careful not to burn yourself as well. Other than that, there is no decent reason why your grill should not be burning today.

Why You Should Choose Gas Grills
Filed Under grills | Leave a Comment
Amit Chakraborty asked:
Gas grills have long been the pride and joy of grilling enthusiasts around the world. Ask many grilling connoisseurs which type of grill they would choose, and a great many of them would, without hesitation, say, “Gas grills of course.” Gas grills may be a bit more expensive than other types, but they are most definitely worth the money.
Regardless of preference, though, gas grills offer speed and convenience unrivaled by traditional charcoal grills. Gas grills do not require that you preheat your fuel, and they do not require that you use lighter fluid. Gas grills are ready to barbeque whenever you are ready to cook. Simply turn the knob, activate your burners, and you are off to the races.
Electric grills and barbeque grills offer other conveniences than charcoal and electric grills, as well. Many gas models have side burners that can be used to cook baked beans, corn on the cob, or other treats that can be prepared in a saucepan. Heat up barbeque sauce to put on your steaks, if you like. No matter what you decide to do with your gas grill, it will never let you down.
Of course, you must keep your barbeque grill in top shape, as well. Oil your grill grates before you preheat your grill and this will help ensure that your food does not stick. If you clean your barbeque grill grates after each use, you can reduce the amount of bitterness that the remnants of your last grilling session leave on your food. Always make sure that your tank is kept clean and place a drip-can under the grill to keep hot oil and grease from dripping off of the meat and onto the propane tank. Following those few simple rules will keep your grilling in style, and in safety, for years to come.

Barbequing outdoors is a pleasure that anyone can partake in and with so many types of grills available you can practically cook anywhere. One exception to the list is a natural gas grill which needs a permanent hook up. Listed below are some of the main advantages / disadvantages and suggestions for both natural gas and charcoal grills to help decide which one is best for you.
Charcoal Grilling and Benefits
The backyard chef’s favorite challenge is to create the perfect fire for grilling to produce that mouthwatering smoky taste! Most popular and with about 80% of all American households owning one, is the barbeque grill. Approximately 47% of these bbq owners are cooking with good old charcoal. With brands such as Weber, clearly the most popular charcoal grill sold, as well as a household name, one might dismiss other quality charcoal grillers. But brands such as Brinkman and Hibachi are sought-after as are lesser known charcoal grillers Arctic, Meco, Aussie, Texas Pit Masters, Uniflame, Capital and Thermos, Fire Magic and others.
If you are looking to find the right barbeque charcoal grill, you are in luck. Why? Charcoal grills can add an extra smoky flavor to your grilling that gas grills can’t! And, these grills are affordable to suit any budget. That said, if you buy a fancy one with deluxe features, the price tag will be higher. However, compared to an outdoor gas grill featuring mechanical parts and a more complicated design, charcoal grillers are just more economical.
Which charcoal barbeque to buy?
Begin with a few simple questions. How many people will you be grilling for? Does the bbq need to be a specific grill type such as: portable, stainless steel or cast iron? Are you looking for a particular brand: Weber charcoal grills, Brinkman charcoal grills, Hibachi, Arctic, Patio Life, Meco, Aussie or something else
With a charcoal grill, if you are going to be cooking for a lot of people or just a few people, size matters. A small charcoal grill is 300 to 500 sq. in. cooking surface; a medium charcoal grill is 500 to 700 sq. in. cooking surface; and a large grill is 700 sq. in. and up. So make sure you are getting the size you that fits your needs. If you need something portable, take a look at the brands Weber and Arctic. You will find these to be lightweight and easy to carry. A lock-lid is a convenient portable barbeques feature for camping and outdoor picnicking. see: http://www.outdoor-fireplaces-and-patio-heaters.com/charcoal-grills.htm
Natural gas grilling and benefits
How many times have you wanted to barbeque on a Saturday night but were out of propane gas? With a natural gas grill you will never have to worry about the grilling disaster because you’ll never run out of propane while grilling steaks for friends. If you’re in the market shopping for a barbeque that will offer you great convenience and ease, then natural gas is the way to go. Why? Unlike charcoal grills, there is no waiting for the coals to heat up. With a natural gas grill you just push the button, turn the dial and ignite! And, since these barbeques are connected to the gas supply piping of the home, they are always ready for cooking.
How to choose the natural gas grill that’s right for you
It’s never easy deciding, especially when there are so many outdoor grill manufacturers to choose from: Weber, Broilmaster, Lynx, Fire Magic and many more. And besides the brands, you’ve got to figure out which brand model will suit your grilling needs. Here are some grill features to consider: What size cooking surface do you need? Does the barbeque need side shelves? Do you want a multi-burner system, meaning 2, 4, or 6 burners? Do you want warming shelves, a side burner, a grease catcher? And what about the grill’s appearance? Does it need need to fit into an outdoor kitchen? Or to match the décor of the exterior of your house?
Two great ways to decide are your particular budget and reviews. Read as many gas grill reviews as possible, talk to friends with natural gas grillers, and shop around locally and online. Whatever your needs and whatever you decide, adding a barbeque to your life, be it natural gas or charcoal, will never be something you regret. see: http://www.outdoor-fireplaces-and-patio-heaters.com/outdoor-gas-grills.htm

My grill (propane) has settings from low, med, med hi, and high. I have to grill 4 steaks. Two are to be well done and 2 are to be medium rare. I have every seasoning under the sun, I just want to know how to grill them so they are tender, juicy and have a lot of flavor. They are New York Strip but they are the biggest ones I’ve ever seen.
